“If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.”
M.K. Murray grew up in the Chicago suburbs, and has many thoughts about the strange, loud Southside Catholic culture that surrounds her. She graduated as valedictorian from Queen of Peace High School in Burbank, Illinois, (2011) and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts, magna cum laude, in Creative Writing from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois (2014). She has since worked a variety of jobs in an attempt to figure out who she is.
M.K. has been interested in writing and telling stories her entire life. As a child, she frequently wrote and directed plays that she and her brother performed for their grandparents. A longtime survivor of major depression, generalized anxiety, and recently diagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder, M.K. is committed to mental health education and spreading trauma awareness. She enjoys reading, has watched a lot of television, and absolutely loves dogs.
